Since 2018, the Stalag Association has been working on a utilization concept for the remaining Stalag VII A buildings. We brought the applications for financing and mandating a feasibility study to the city council. A joint working group with the city of Moosburg was then established on our initiative in 2019. After discussions to select consultants, the 2020 group worked closely with the agency contracted by the city. The completed study was presented in 2021. It contributed significantly to the perception of the supra-local importance of the Moosburg Stalag Remembrance Site among political and professional authorities and now forms the basis for their further action.

Thus, a further step towards the preservation of the Stalag barracks and the realization of a Stalag Documentation Center has just been initiated. On August 6, 2021, a multilateral project group was launched at the invitation of Freising District Administrator Helmut Petz. Participants from the Freising District Office, the District of Upper Bavaria, the Bavarian State Parliament, the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments, the City of Moosburg, the Dokuzentrum Working Group and the Stalag Association initially met for an initial familiarization. The committee is to be expanded. The goal is to establish a special-purpose association with potent member partners that can assume responsibility for the multi-million project.

The press release from the district office summarizes the result. The regional press reported on it.
